Research Masterclass: Ansgar Koene – message from tom rusbridge

This autumn we are delighted to welcome three guest speakers to share their insights with doctoral and early career researchers based in all schools at UEL. These seminars, including a presentation from our speaker followed by questions and discussion, will address general challenges and opportunities that may present themselves in any research career. From the experiences and expertise our speakers will share from their own research pathways, we hope you will feel more equipped as you continue to embark on yours.

Dr Ansgar Koene is a Senior Research Fellow at the Horizon Digital Research Institute at the University of Nottingham where he contributes to the policy impact and public engagement activities of the institute and the ReEnTrust and UnBias projects  As part of this work Ansgar has provided evidence to parliamentary inquiries, co-authored a report on Bias in Algorithmic Decision-Making for the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, and was lead author of a Science Technology Options Assessment report for the European Parliament on “a Governance Framework for Algorithmic Accountability and Transparency”. Ansgar will join us to discuss engaging national and international policy makers with research.
