Postgraduate transitions: exploring discipline practice

The Higher Education Academy invites tenders for the provision of a study on postgraduate transitions in higher education. The tenderer will undertake a project to enrich sector understanding of student transition to postgraduate education in the UK and identify and disseminate effective practice in the progression of undergraduates into postgraduate provision by those institutions and disciplines. The aims of the study are to:

•consider the factors that influence students’ decisions to make the transition from undergraduate to postgraduate education, specifically to taught and research degrees;

•identify trends both in immediate transition and in later transition to postgraduate study and the differences between the two;

•identify which subject disciplines and institutions are more effective in progressing students from undergraduate to postgraduate study, and why.

Tenderers may submit bids of up to £60,000.
