UEL Athena SWAN launched a new mentoring scheme to support female academics was launched at UEL’s USS building in June.
It was hosted by Athena SWAN team leaders Dr Mary Linnington and Clare Matysova and opened by Vice-Chancellor Professor John Joughin, who told an audience of around 20 staff, “I am pleased that the work on the Athena SWAN charter is starting to show a real impact here at UEL. I am particularly delighted to see the interest from staff in the mentoring scheme and to attend the formal launch today.”
Speaking about the launch, Clare said, “We’re pleased with the response – 19 mentee applications and 14 mentor applications. We’ve matched most mentees but have a few outstanding, so we’re looking for further mentors, including Readers and Professors.’
